“Pancreatic Cancer is a difficult disease that appears out of nowhere and affects people who look and feel healthy. When faced with even the possibility of pancreatic cancer, it’s easy to feel scared, defeated and at times, totally hopeless. I know that this is not a hopeless disease.”

Robert P Jury, MD., FACS, is the System Leader of the Beaumont Health System Digestive Health Center of Excellence. He is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in diseases of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and upper gastrointestinal tract. More than 80% of his practice is devoted to the care of patients experiencing pancreas-related problems.

Dr. Jury is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed residency training in surgery at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, and went on to fellowship training at Fukuoka University in Fukuoka, Japan. He was a founding partner of Royal Oak Surgical Associates at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, and has been part of this practice since 1985.

Dr. Jury added Carrie Callahan, RN, to his team when he started the Multidisciplinary Liver/Pancreas Clinic at Beaumont Hospital in 2007. To better personalize their practice and meet the ongoing needs of their patients, they moved their multidisciplinary approach to Royal Oak Surgical Associates and developed PancreasCare. Through their network of colleagues and the many specialists at Beaumont, they offer a team approach to your care, acting as your quarterback and advocate.

Regardless of whether or not surgery is the best treatment for you, the PancreasCare team will find a way to help. Their goal is to provide the information and care you need, and to help you maintain a positive attitude.
